Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
At the Martin Lipscomb Performing Arts Center, Highlands
February 23-26th
March 2011 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tennessee Williams, one of America's most important 2oth century playwrights. His play, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955. This griping and intensely moving story is set in a Mississippi plantation house where the family of Big Daddy has gathered to celebrate his 65th birthday. The mood is somber despite the festivities because a number if evils poison the gaiety: greed, sins of the past, and the desperate clawing hopes for the future. The characters in "Cat" are some of the most compelling memorable in the history of southern genre theater. Call 828-526-8084 for tickets.
