Sapphire Valley Resort Update!

The long awaited annual Duck Derby – regularly scheduled for the Yankee Doodle Dandy Day celebration – will occur this Friday at 5:30 PM.  The heavy rains throughout last week made the Horsepasture River along the banks of the Community Center unsuitable to host the event.  But, the river is receding and the ducks will race this week.  The winning duck will net its sponsor a one-week stay at a resort in the Myrtle Beach area.  Come on down and cheer on the ducks.

Pull up a chair and join us under evening skies for a tribute to Franki Valli.  The second “Concert On the Slopes” on July 16, 2013 features the Garden State Guys performing such memorable hits as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Walk Like a Man,” and many more.  Advance tickets for the 7:00 PM performance are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids.  While you are at the Community Center, it’s a good time to go ahead and buy your tickets for the August 13, 2013 performance of the Alabama Blues Brothers.

With the concert falling on a Tuesday, that means we have delayed next week’s boat cruise of Lake Glennville to Wednesday.  The incredibly popular boat cruise departs the Community Center at 5:00 PM.  Call 743-7663 to reserve your Wednesday evening boat cruise today!

July 19 – 20:  Nature is on display at the Community Center during the annual Mountain Wildlife Days.  Enjoy seeing some of WNC’s natural citizens and listen to informative presentations on their lives and how we interact with them.

Wednesdays in July – We’ll provide you the transportation to Hendersonville to enjoy a matinee performance of what may be the most popular musical in the world – Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables.”  Tickets are $55.00 each and include entry to the performance and transportation.  Trips leave the Community Center at 10:00 AM arriving in Hendersonville in time for lunch on your own before the afternoon performance.

July 26:  Mountain Challenge – Roddick -v- Courier Pro-Am.  Watch, or participate, as Sapphire Valley residents and pros take on a challenge at the Sapphire Valley Resort Racquet Club for the right to play against tennis legends Jim Courier and Andy Roddick.  Admission is free – reserved lunch tickets are available for $20.00.  Call 743-1181 for more information about this 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM tennis event.
